Hull Truck Theatres latest production follows the story of the Edlington Colliery’s Glee Club who spend their evenings away from the pit getting together to sing. But just ahead of the gala performance of 1962, the South Yorkshire group face a host of problems!
The play, which is as insightful and poignant as it is hilarious, features a cast of six male actors, including Olivier Award winner Paul Clarkson and Sleepy Hollow star, Marc Pickering. The six have worked with Music Director Phil Bateman to create their close-harmony singing. Performances take place from October 10 – 12, tickets are availabe via the Civic Theatre box office on 01302 342349.
“Tessa Walker’s keenly observed production is very well-acted and strikes all the right notes both emotionally and musically” – The Guardian, 21.9.11
