Manchester Camerata’s 2011/12 concert series in Doncaster opens on Thursday 13 October at 7.30pm at Doncaster Civic Theatre. This is Gábor Takács-Nagy’s first concert in Doncaster as Music Director, and for this opening concert, he has created an exciting programme exploring the power of music and words.
A celebration of music and literature, this programme brings together two composers deeply influenced by the drama of written and spoken word. Benjamin Britten brings Rimbaud’s Les Illuminations to life with an extraordinary world of string sonorities. Mozart’s incredibly intuitive understanding of human emotion and drama is demonstrated in a selection of arias sung by soprano Rebecca Bottone, as well as in his intense Symphony no.40.
Tickets are available from the Civic Theatre box office on 01302 342349.
